How to set up an eSIM on your Google or Samsung phone
Once you have your eSIM card, follow the instructions for your Google or Samsung phone running Android Q (10) or newer to finish the set up.
What you need to set up an eSIM on your Android phone
To set up an eSIM on your Android phone, make sure you have:
- A phone running Android Q (10) or newer such as:
- Google Pixel 3 or newer.
- Samsung S series: S21, S21+, S21 Ultra or newer.
- Samsung Z series: Z Flip3, Z Fold3 or newer.
- Samsung Note series: Note20 or Note20 Ultra.
- A chatr eSIM card.
- An active cellular data or WiFi connection.
How to set up an eSIM on your Google phone
- To set up an eSIM on your Google phone, follow these steps:
- Make sure your Google Pixel is running Android Q (10) or a newer version.
- Go to Settings > Network and Internet> SIMs > + Add SIM > Download SIM.
- Select Use QR Code. This will automatically open the camera app on your phone.
- Use your Google phone to scan the QR code on the eSIM card. Once recognized, your eSIM will automatically begin downloading.
How to set up an eSIM on your Samsung phone
To set up an eSIM on your Google Samsung phone, follow these steps:
- Make sure your Samsung device is running Android Q (10) or a newer version.
- Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM.
- Select Scan QR Code. This will automatically open the camera app on your phone.
- Use your Samsung phone to scan the QR code on the eSIM card. Once recognized, your mobile plan will be downloaded and activated on your eSIM card.
What to do if your eSIM card isn’t scanning or is unrecognized by your Android phone
If your phone isn't scanning or recognizing the eSIM card, you won't be able to manually set it up. To fix this issue, follow these steps:
- Make sure your phone is connected to the internet. If you're using the eSIM as your only line, connect to a WiFi network with internet access to complete the activation.
- Check if there's anything blocking the camera lens and ensure the entire QR code is visible in the camera's viewfinder.
