Paying For Your Chatr Service

People are always asking us how chatr remains such an affordable choice. We tell them that it’s not only well-priced, but it’s really easy to add funds.

1. How do I add money to my chatr account?

For the most carefree mobile phone service, we personally recommend signing up for chatr auto-pay with your credit card or Visa Debit card. This preauthorized payment service uses automatic payments, so you can take the guesswork out of when and how much you have to pay; and your chatr account will keep running smoothly.

To enroll in Autopay:


IMPORTANT: Be sure you key in all characters before pressing the SEND key. There are no commas, spaces, or pauses.

Dial *FILL (*3455), then Press Send. This allows your credit card to add an instant top-up to your chatr account. Otherwise, you’ll have to be on top of things and make sure there is enough balance in your account before your anniversary date. We call this the self-pay option where you pay using INTERAC® Online, Visa Debit, a credit card or buying a chatr top-up card from a chatr retail location.

2. What are the payment methods I can use on my chatr account?

To pay your monthly plan fee and any chatr pay per use charges, you can use the following methods of payment:

Automatically by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) using our chatr autopay service; or by using the self-pay option with INTERAC® Online, Visa Debit, or chatr top-ups available in $10, $25, $40 and $50 denominations. You can purchase a chatr top-up card at many retailers across Canada.

3. I added extra money to my chatr account but didn't use it this month – what now?
Any remaining balance you've got in your chatr account can be used the next month, as long as the monthly plan fee is paid.
4. Does the balance in my chatr account ever expire?

You can use your chatr account balance as long as the current month’s plan fee has been paid.

If you fail to make your full monthly payment, you cannot access the account balance or any services associated with your plan. But after you successfully make your full monthly payment, it will be available for use once again – hooray!

If you forget to pay your monthly plan fee for six consecutive months your chatr account is deactivated and any remaining balance is removed.

5. How do I change my method of chatr payment?

The easiest way to change your method of payment is to download the My chatr app. Our app allows you to top-up with a credit card, chatr top-up card or even enroll in auto-pay. You can also manage the credit cards you have on file. Alternatively, you can also manage your account with My chatr online.

6. Can I change my method of payment from chatr top-up to chatr auto-pay?
For sure! We want you to have the best top-up experience possible, so you can sign up for chatr auto-pay at any time. Your first preauthorized payment will occur on your next anniversary date.
7. Can I stop auto-pay?

If you would like to stop the chatr auto-pay service you can do so by calling our customer service or dial *611 from your chatr phone. If you cancel auto-pay, you will lose any applicable bonus.

8. What’s the maximum balance I can have in my chatr account?

You can have a maximum balance of $150 in your chatr mobile account.

If you reach the maximum, you’ll be able to add more money when your account is drawn down. If you’re on chatr auto-pay and reach the maximum balance, we’ll give your credit card a break and will only resume automatic charges when there’s enough room. You don’t have to do a thing.

9. Can I pay with INTERAC® Online?

The INTERAC® Online service is a payment option that allows you to pay for goods and services on the Internet directly from your bank account. It is secure and easy to use.

The INTERAC® Online payment option is currently only available to cardholders with online banking at the following financial institutions: RBC Royal Bank and TD Canada Trust. Other financial Institutions may be added shortly.

Please note that for INTERAC® Online transactions, the funds will be withdrawn from your bank account immediately after you place your order.

10. Can I pay with Visa Debit?
Visa Debit is a payment option that allows you to pay for your monthly service, whether you are on auto-pay or paying your monthly fee using the self-pay option.
