General questions about your chatr account.

1. How do I activate my chatr account so I can start talking and texting?

Once you have your chatr SIM card, there are three simple ways to activate your chatr mobile service:

1) Visit chatrmobile.com/activate

2) Call us at 1-800-485-9745 from anywhere in Canada or if you’ve bought a chatr phone, just dial *611 and press the CALL/SEND button

3) Visit a chatr retail location near you.Find a store

2. My chatr account has now been activated. How do I keep it going?

As a chatr mobile customer, you will be asked to pay your monthly fee before or on (3am Central time) your anniversary date each month. At that time (or any time), you may also choose to add extra money with a chatr voucher-top-up. These voucher top-ups are handy if you’re looking to cover anything not included in your plan.

For the most seamless mobile phone service, we personally recommend signing up for chatr autopay with your credit card. This allows pre authorized monthly payments to automatically come off your credit card on the same date you signed up, every month. This way you can take the guesswork out of when and how much you have to pay; and your chatr account will keep running smoothly.

3. What is a chatr anniversary date?

The date you activate your chatr mobile phone service is your anniversary date. Your monthly plan fee is deducted from your account on this day each month, so you can continue talking, texting and using data (if you have a data plan or add-on). If you are enrolled in our auto-pay program, your plan fee is automatically charged to your card on your anniversary date. If you are managing your own payments, please make sure you have enough money in your account to cover your plan fee by 3:00 AM Central Time on your anniversary date each month.

If you miss making a payment on your anniversary date, the date of your next payment will become your new anniversary date.

Note: if you activate on the 29th, 30th or 31st of the month, your anniversary date will be set to the 28th of each month.

4. What happens if I forget to add money to my chatr account in time for my anniversary date?

If you miss your monthly chatr payment, your mobile phone service and account balance will be put on hold and you won’t be able to make or receive any calls, texts or use data. You will continue to receive service messages and you will have access to emergency services. Once you’ve made the monthly payment, your chatr account will be up and running again and your account balance will be accessible. Please note: the date of your next payment will become your new anniversary date.

5. How do I check my chatr account balance?
There are many simple options for checking your account balance:
  • Download the My chatr app
  • Sign into My chatr online
  • Dial *100# then press the CALL/SEND button for an on-screen notification
  • Dial *225# then press the CALL/SEND button for an on-screen notification
  • Dial *611 from your chatr phone or call 1-800-485-9745 from any phone in Canada to reach customer service.

6. How do I manage my chatr account?

All of your account information is at your fingertips through My chatr. Sign-in anytime at chatrmobile.com/mychatr to check or do any of the following:

  • Top-up your account
  • Enroll in auto-pay
  • Check your account balance
  • See your account history
  • View your call history
  • Change your plan
  • Add features
  • And much more!

7. How is airtime charged to my chatr account? By the minute?
Yes. Calls from your chatr phone are billed by the minute. Partial minutes are rounded up to the next full minute.
8. Do I receive a monthly invoice?
Nope. Because chatr mobile is so simple there's just no need for monthly bills. By paying the monthly plan fee in advance of the month of service, chatr mobile customers stay in control of their mobile charges, and say goodbye to scary surprise bills. You can choose the super convenient chatr autopay option, and allow preauthorized payment to be automatically charged to your credit card. Or you can choose the self-pay option by adding a chatr top-up before your monthly anniversary date.
9. I have questions about my chatr account and mobile phone service. Who do I call?

10. How do I opt out of receiving marketing communications?
At chatr, we have a policy of protecting our customer’s privacy. Sign into your My chatr account to change or edit your marketing preferences (SMS and Email) and go to the Account Details section. Click on "Edit account profile" to view your current settings and/or edit. Please note that changes to your preferences may require up to 10 days to take effect.
