chatr Zone Plans
1. What is a chatr zone?

A chatr zone is the service area where Talk, Text and Data plans (in–zone) and Local Talk plans (in-zone) are available. This includes the Greater Toronto Area, Vancouver, Montreal and many other cities across Canada. Check out our coverage map for more details.

2. What are the Talk, Text and Data plans (in–zone)?

Talk, Text and Data plans (in–zone) can be used in the Greater Toronto Area, Vancouver, Montreal and many other cities across Canada.

While in-zone, the plans include Unlimited Canada–wide Talk & International Text, and data with a choice of allotment at 3G speed. Once you have reached your allotment, you can continue to use data at a reduced speed until your next anniversary date. Data speed will be reduced from up to 3 Mbps to up to 64 kbps (for both download and upload).

Pay–per–use charges apply for talk, text and data usage outside of a chatr zone.

3. What is the Local Talk Plan (in-zone)?

Local Talk Plan (in–zone) can be used in the Greater Toronto Area, Vancouver, Montreal and many other cities across Canada.

While in-zone, the plan includes Unlimited calling within your chatr zone.

Pay–per–use charges apply for talk usage outside of a chatr zone.

4. What happens if I’m using services in a chatr zone and travel out–of–zone?

As long as you start using your service in a chatr zone and stay in–zone, your usage is covered by your plan.

If you travel outside of a chatr zone, pay–per–use charges apply.

5. Will my network indicator show if I’m in–zone or out–of–zone?

Your network indicator will not change if you are in–zone or out–of–zone.

To find out if you are in–zone or out–of–zone, dial *#555# from your chatr phone and press the “send” or phone key for an on–screen notification.

Check our coverage map to see the chatr data zone service areas.

6. Will I be notified about my 3G speed usage?

Yes, you will receive a text notification when you have reached 90% and 100% of your data allotment. Once you have reached 100% usage, you can continue to use in-zone data with no overage charge, but your data speeds will be reduced from up to 3 Mbps to up to 64 kbps (for both download and upload) until your next anniversary date..

7. What can I do with a reduced data speed?

There are lots of activities you can continue to do with reduced data speed, such as email, browse on the go, and social networking. Activities requiring high bandwidth (e.g. streaming videos) will be impacted.
